Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Psychiatric (Med/Psych) Location: Chicago, IL Job Type: Full-Time (Permanent) Shift: 12-Hour Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Med/Psych RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with both medical and behavioral health needs. The RN will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while ensuring the safety and well-being of patients with complex medical and psychiatric conditions. Responsibilities Assess patients with medical and psychiatric conditions and develop individualized care plans Monitor patient status, vital signs, and changes in physical and mental health Administer medications, including psychotropic medications, and evaluate treatment effectiveness Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions using evidence-based practices Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals Provide crisis intervention and behavioral health support when needed Promote a safe therapeutic environment while managing challenging patient behaviors Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions Coordinate discharge planning with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and continuing education Advocate for patients to ensure access to appropriate medical and behavioral health services Requirements Active Illinois RN License Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required Current BLS Certification Current ACLS Certification Current PALS Certification Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification Minimum 2–3 years of Medical-Surgical and Psychiatric Nursing experience Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their interactions with medical treatments Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient advocacy skills Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or current enrollment in a BSN program Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC) Previous experience in Medical Psychiatric, Behavioral Health, or Med/Surg Telemetry settings Benefits Competitive Compensation 401(k) with 4% Employer Match Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off Continuing Education Opportunities Comprehensive Benefits Package At Srimatrix Health, we're dedicated to connecting talents with opportunities that transform lives. #J-18808-Ljbffr SriMatrix health
