Job Title: Electrophysiology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Electrophysiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years License: Active IL license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Negative drug screen required Description: The Electrophysiology Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures. The nurse assists physicians during procedures using sterile techniques and operates complex radiology equipment. Responsibilities include preparing the examination area and positioning patients for procedures. The nurse will pass materials and take exposures as directed by the physician. Knowledge and skills must be demonstrated to provide appropriate patient care for the specified patient population. The unit consists of 11 employees and 4 electrophysiologists. There are currently 2 procedure rooms used for a variety of procedures. The volume ranges from 5 to 10 procedures per day within the department. The department operates Monday through Friday, with on-call requirements during weekends and holidays. The RN to tech ratio is balanced, with 5 technicians and 6 registered nurses.
