Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Are you a PTA who wants to do more than the standard outpatient or hospital setting? Home of the Innocents is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to deliver specialized physical therapy services to children and young adults at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center (KCPCC). In this one-of-a-kind role, you'll work with a medically complex pediatric population, collaborate with an expert interdisciplinary team, and help children reach their highest level of function and quality of life, every single day.

A Day in the Life

The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to pediatric and young adult residents under the direction of the Lead Physical Therapist and in accordance with physician orders. You'll collaborate with OT, Speech Therapy, the Wheelchair and Adaptive Equipment Manager, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver holistic, resident-centered rehabilitation and habilitation services.

Schedule: 32-hour position. Flexible hours to meet resident therapy needs, including early mornings and/or later afternoons. Must be available Fridays for department coverage. On-site.

How This Position Contributes to Our Mission

• Deliver physical therapy treatments including gross motor development, gait training, range of motion, aquatic therapy, and positioning per physician orders and individualized care plans
• Collaborate with the Physical Therapist on initial and ongoing plans of care, assessment, and discharge planning
• Partner with OT, Speech Therapy, and the Wheelchair and Adaptive Equipment team to ensure comprehensive, coordinated resident care
• Assist with on- and off-site clinics and medical appointments to provide continuity of care for orthopedic issues, baclofen pumps, and other complex needs
• Complete accurate daily progress notes and billing in the EMR; train caregivers and support new employee orientation on PT-related care
• Maintain and manage therapeutic devices and adaptive equipment including AFOs, wheelchairs, and positioning devices

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

• Associate's Degree with successful completion of a Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Board certification and current Kentucky PTA licensure
• Basic computer skills and EHR documentation proficiency
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

• Pediatric or young adult PT experience including clinical rotations or school placements is valued; willingness to learn and grow in this specialty is equally welcomed
• Experience in orthopedics, positioning, aquatic therapy, or adaptive equipment
• Experience in long-term care or complex care settings
