Job Title: Cook / Prep Cook Job Summary: Responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. Assists with food preparation, kitchen organization, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Works as part of a team to ensure timely preparation and service of meals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items. - Cook menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and customer orders. - Assist with meal preparation, including assembling dishes, preparing sauces, and stocking ingredients. - Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas. - Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures. - Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control. - Store food properly and label/date items as required. - Assist with inventory checks and restocking supplies. - Wash dishes, clean workstations, and assist with closing duties as needed. - Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure smooth operations. Qualifications: - Previous kitchen, cooking, or food preparation experience preferred but not required. - Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. - Knowledge of food safety practices preferred. - Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies and equipment. - Strong teamwork and communication skills. Physical Requirements: - Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift. - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. - Ability to work in a kitchen environment with heat, noise, and varying temperatures. Schedule/Work Environment: - May include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs. - Work is performed in a restaurant setting.
