Step into the Upfit Bay: A Day in the Life

You clock in, check the work order, and roll a fresh chassis into your bay. Under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, you map mounting points, set a service or stake body, and secure it. You route wiring for lights and accessories, plumb basic hydraulics, and add the finishing touches—hitches, ladder racks, drawers, shelves, mud flaps. By the time you sign off, a bare chassis has become a work-ready truck.

What You’ll Do

• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE every step of the way.
• Install bodies and equipment: service utility bodies, stake and dump bodies, plows, hitches, and a variety of commercial accessories.
• Mount and secure shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, and related hardware to spec.
• Support wiring and basic hydraulic hookups for installed equipment.
• Train alongside other mechanics/technicians as needed and share knowledge.
• Jump in on additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

What You Bring

• Foundational mechanical aptitude.
• Baseline welding ability (MIG/TIG/Stick exposure is a plus), plus familiarity with electrical wiring and hydraulics.
• Comfort using power hand tools—and you have a basic personal tool set.

Tools and Tech You’ll Touch

• MIG, TIG, and Stick welders
• Hydraulic shear/shearing equipment
• Automotive vehicles and related shop tools
