Junior Research Scientist (Stern Marketing Department)

Overview The NYU Stern Marketing Department seeks a full-time Junior Research Scientist for a one-year appointment. The Junior Research Scientist will work with faculty members in NYU Stern’s Marketing Department. The research projects are at the boundary between Business Analytics/Quantitative Marketing and Industrial Organization. Topics The topics include: Digital Marketing Pricing Consumer choice and search behaviors Large scale field experiments Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence applications in Marketing/Advertising (Natural language processing, Computer vision, Multimedia, Reinforcement Learning) Research scope The research projects utilize (i) high-dimensional data that record transactions, prices, offline and online advertising, and other marketing interventions or (ii) unstructured data such as Instagram photos, consumer reviews, livestream shopping videos, voice search spectrogram, or (iii) game-theoretical analytical models or (iv) Qualtrics experimental design. Timeline and salary The Research Professional is expected to start in June or July 2026, though earlier start dates will be considered. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $51,700 - $61,500. Responsibilities and expectations The work requires strong data science skills to scrape, prepare, maintain, manipulate, and analyze the data. The Research Professional will also conduct extensive statistical analyses. A successful applicant will not only perform assigned tasks, but eventually develop increasing levels of independent thinking and creativity.
