Graduate Assistant Spirit Program

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private, nondenominational Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in operating a Division I intercollegiate program through coaching assistance, recruiting, program promotion, event coordination, equipment management, and compliance with NCAA and university policies. Recruit talented student‑athletes and promote the sports program to prospective players. Coordinate community service projects, special events, and camps for the team. Maintain storage space and manage team equipment, props, and apparel. Plan and organize activities of the assigned program, ensuring infrastructure is in place. Collaborate with internal contacts or customers to coordinate activities, promote cooperation, and support process improvement. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or department. Qualifications Admitted to a graduate‑degree program at GCU (certificate programs do not qualify). Minimum GPA of 3.0 upon admission and maintained throughout employment. Enrolled as a “regular” degree‑seeking student for at least 6 graduate units toward the degree (undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this). Graduate Assistants must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and uphold GCU’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission. Restricted work hours (maximum 29 hours per week) with willingness to work beyond normal business hours, including travel with teams as needed. Must pass all pre‑employment screening activities, including background checks. Additional Information Graduate Assistants are eligible for a tuition waiver for the period employed; the waiver may be considered taxable income. Assistants are part‑time employees and are not eligible for GCU’s employment benefits except those required by law. Completion of all graduate degree requirements terminates eligibility for the assistantship; an instructor may revoke the position if duties are not performed satisfactorily.
