Note: a two‑year service commitment applies. Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Responsibilities Use standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase the quality of care and quality of life for patients, families, and significant others by systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. Establish effective relationships and serve as an advocate with patients, families, and significant others to facilitate development of a unique care plan. Use the nursing process to develop and implement the plan of care, collect assessment data for each patient, determine appropriate nursing diagnoses, identify expected patient outcomes, and evaluate patient outcomes. Develop assessment and management strategies based on consideration of physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure dimensions of human responses to actual and potential health problems. Demonstrate knowledge of the impact of actual or potential illness and each patient’s status across multiple dimensions. Utilize leadership skills by coordinating and collaborating with patients, families, significant others, communities, and interprofessional team members. Utilize effective communication to participate in collaborative decision‑making with patients, families, and health‑care providers, ensuring culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate care within available resources. Educate the patient, family, and significant others about measures that promote, maintain, and restore health or promote comfort. Foster a healthy work environment by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues, students, and others. Apply evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring care is delivered based on patient age‑specific and clinical needs as described in the department’s scope of service. Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Perform point‑of‑care testing according to policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or educational equivalency for licensing. One‑year registered nurse experience. Physical Requirements Constant use of speech, standing, walking, frequent lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use, data entry. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far; identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of smell and hearing for detecting odors, alarms, and machinery sounds. Occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects 25‑50 lbs and moving patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving and rare crawling and running.
