School Nutrition ManagerSupervises the preparation and serving of appropriate quantities of food to meet menu requirements. Maintains high standards of control in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. The School Nutrition Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of his/her assigned area. The manager must uphold the policies and standards of the food service department.Start Date: Otoboer, 2026Salary Range: Minimum: $19.40/hour (26-27 salary schedule) Salary commensurate with related experience.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High School diploma or GEDTexas Food Handler's Certificate requiredValid Texas Food Manager Certification or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employmentSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Effective communication and interpersonal skillsEffective planning and organizational skillsProficient in multi-taskingKnowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparationKnowledgeable in operating efficient, cost effective programAbility to read and speak EnglishAbility to direct and manage personnelCompetent skills in basic bookkeeping and mathematicsDemonstrate professional appearance and cleanliness in work habitsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to work in cold or below zero environment for short periods of timeMust be able to work in a hot and humid environmentExperience:Minimum of 3 years of experience in school food service or other institutional food service programMajor Responsibilities and DutiesMaintain a valid food manager's certificate.Responsible for managing food production, storage and serving of appealing, wholesome, and nutritious food at assigned cafeteria through the use of standardized recipes and information listed on the production records and other resource materials provided.Responsible for assigning and scheduling work tasks for school nutrition employees.Responsible for all financial transactions associated with the serving of meals in the assigned cafeteria.Responsible for ordering food and supplies needed for the preparation and serving of meals and proper storage of all supplies.Responsible for accurately recording, retaining, and utilizing food production records.Responsible for maintaining adequate health requirements in the cafeteria that meet or exceed all federal, state, and national regulations.Instruct and train new and existing child nutrition personnel.Attends all managers' meetings and other meetings designated by the School Nutrition Director.Performs all other duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Director.Supervisory ResponsibilityFood service staff at the assigned campus.Equipment Used:All kitchen equipment and computerWorking ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, pushing and pulling; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and carrying (50 lbs.); exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Maintain emotional control under stress.
