We provide a wide array of transportation products, including paratransit, fixed route, shuttle, charter services, and ADA eligibility assessments.RydeTrans specializes in transporting people who depend on safe, comfortable, and reliable transportation to essential services like school, rehabilitation training, medical appointments, and work.About this Role:As a Regional Driver, you will play a vital role in ensuring service continuity for our San Leandro and Berkeley divisions. This position is designed for transportation professionals who value flexibility and operational excellence. You will be assigned routes as needed, assist with high-priority assignments, and handle long-distance trips—such as same-day travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles.This is not a fixed-schedule role. You will operate multiple vehicle types, respond to changing assignments, and deliver professional, courteous service to every passenger. If you are looking for a dynamic position where your expertise makes a measurable impact, we invite you to join our team.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely and professionally operate multiple types of company vehicles across various contracted service areas, adapting to changing operational needs, including same-day schedule or route adjustments.Provide local and long-distance transportation services, including extended intercity trips (e.g., San Francisco to San Diego) with same day return when required.Accurately complete daily trip manifests, either electronically via onboard tablet/computer or in written form, depending on location requirements.Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.Maintain working knowledge of assigned service area geography, routes, and passenger demographicsMake scheduled stops to safely board and de-board passengers.Assist passengers with mobility devices, ensuring wheelchairs, scooters, and other aids are properly secured.Communicate immediately with dispatch regarding delays, deviations, overloads, incidents, passenger concerns, medical or behavioral issues, and mechanical or electrical problems.Collect fares (when applicable), provide accurate service information, and communicate/enforce company policies and passenger guidelines respectfully.Complete clear, timely reports for accidents, incidents, and passenger interactions as required.Operate and monitor onboard technology systems, including tablets, mobile computers, fare equipment, destination signage, and camera systems.Behind-the-wheel training for new operators and refresher training for current employees; support additional site-specific training as needed.Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.Be available to work at all assigned locations, including routes requiring travel over bridges and through tunnels.Perform other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient operations.Minimum Education & Certifications Required:High school diploma or equivalentPossess or have the ability to obtain CDL Operator’s license with required endorsementsFMCSA Compliance Notice (Non‑Domiciled CDL Holders)In accordance with the FMCSA Interim Final Rule effective September 29, 2025, applicants who hold or intend to obtain a non‑domiciled CLP/CDL must meet the following federal requirements:Eligibility is restricted to individuals in H‑2A, H‑2B, or E‑2 visa categories. Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) alone are no longer sufficient for CDL issuance or renewal.State licensing agencies must verify lawful presence using DHS SAVE, and non‑domiciled CDLs/CLPs may be issued only up to one year or until the end of authorized stay, whichever is sooner.In‑person renewals are required, and States must immediately downgrade licenses if lawful status changes or expires. Drivers must maintain valid documents (passport + I‑94).Canadian and Mexican CDLs may qualify under established reciprocity standards.RydeTrans is required to ensure drivers maintain an active, valid CDL at all times under FMCSA regulationsExperience & Skills RequiredAbility to read, write, and speak English and perform basic mathematical procedures.Ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines.Must be able to work without direct supervision.Must read and understand street signs, route sheets and maps.Excellent communication skillsAble to work shift hours and days assigned.Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:Ability to verbally communicate with passengers and dispatchers/road supervisors including use of a 2-way radio and/or PA system.Possess excellent or corrected vision to allow operator to have the ability to read and comprehend written material. Must have good depth perception, peripheral vision, distance vision, and color perception as is required to drive a motorized vehicle.Possess a full range of sense of hearing, including tone, pitch, and volume when operating transit vehicle, using 2-way radio, and assisting passengers and public.Must have good manual dexterity in order to perform the basic functions of ta tablet or onboard computer. Required to reach, grasp, and use multiple objects which include but are not limited to: a 2-way radio, door control, PA microphone, steering wheel, wheelchair lift control, and bus door control.Required to sit while operating vehicle approximately 75% of the work day. The remaining 25% of the day will require the operator to move both in the internal and exterior perimeters of the bus, including a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle by walking around and through the vehicle.Ability to push/pull tension of at least 50 pounds and ability to bend and stoop/kneel to assist passengers boarding and securing in wheelchair/scooters and/or to retrieve equipment. Twist at the knee and waist when operating vehicle, performing vehicle inspections, and securing wheelchairs.
