Description

The Richard and Sheila Young School of Nursing Program are seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor of Nursing position within the Pre-Licensure Program. Primary responsibilities include serving as Clinical Faculty Liaison (CFL) with a full administrative release, committee work, and service to the department, college and community-at-large.

The CFL acts as the primary point of contact between the Young School of Nursing and clinical faculty. The CFL maintains a positive relationship with clinical agencies, overseeing student learning experiences at those sites, and ensuring alignment between academic curriculum and clinical practice standards. The CFL reports to the Associate Dean of Pre-Licensure Nursing and works closely with the Pre-Licensure clinical placement team and manages a range of administrative processes.

A Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent, a current Massachusetts RN license, and significant experience in clinical experience across diverse healthcare settings is required.

Essential Functions

• Clinical site development and management
  • Evaluate clinical sites in meeting student learning objectives.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor clinical experiences and address any concerns.
• Clinical supervision and evaluation
  • Oversee student clinical experiences, providing guidance, feedback, and support to students during their rotations.
  • Regularly review student performance evaluations against clinical competencies and provide constructive feedback to students and clinical faculty.
• Communication and Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison between the didactic, lab, and clinical nursing program faculty, clinical site staff, the clinical placement team, and School of Nursing leadership to address concerns, share updates, and facilitate collaboration.
  • Communicate changes in program curriculum or clinical site policies to relevant parties effectively.
  • Maintain open communication with students regarding their clinical experiences and any challenges they may face.
• Quality Assurance and Improvement
  • Identify areas for improvement within clinical placements and work with clinical partners and Regis Clinical Coordination Office to implement necessary changes.
  • Collect and analyze data on student clinical performance to inform program evaluation and curriculum development.
  • Work to develop and maintain shared workflows and record keeping between Pre-Licensure faculty, clinical placement team, and School of Nursing administration.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting standards and licensure requirements.
• Participate in curriculum and/or course development.
• Maintain active licensure and certification in nursing and advanced practice specialty as appropriate.
• Participate in shared governance through committee work and attending Faculty, School of Nursing and college-wide meetings.
• Contribute to the annual budget development process in the School of Nursing.
• Engage in service to Regis College per Faculty Handbook guidelines including SON and college-wide committees.

Supervisor Responsibilities

• Clinical faculty
  • In collaboration with the clinical placement team, recruit clinical faculty as needed.
  • Orient clinical faculty upon hire.
  • Perform annual evaluations for clinical faculty.
  • Foster community and transparency among clinical faculty by hosting virtual or in-person meetings as a group at least twice per semester.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Current registered nurse (RN) license with the ability to practice in the state.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent.
• Significant experience in clinical practice across diverse healthcare settings.
• Demonstrated teaching skills and experience in a clinical setting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.

Per the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing

Faculty shall:

• Hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing;
• Develop and maintain competence appropriate to teaching responsibilities including, but not limited to:
  • Orientation and mentoring to the nurse educator role;
  • Knowledge of M.G.L. c. 112, 74 through 81C and 244 CMR;
  • Participation in professional development in nursing education such as certification, continuing education;
  • Possess a minimum of two years full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area(s) of clinical instruction; and
  • Possess the following academic and experiential qualifications as appropriate to the faculty member's appointment:
    • faculty appointed to a Registered Nursing program, teaching the theoretical component of a nursing course, shall possess an earned graduate degree in nursing;

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time. May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring sufficient eye-hand/arm coordination and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• Frequent interruptions to assist staff and faculty.
• Have access to strong internet connections at home, and have working knowledge of computer technologies.

Compensation: $68,129 - $73,129 annually.
