Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 3 Trauma center, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure. Details Work in a 40-bed Intensive Care Unit with a 40-patient census Level 3 Trauma center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy cases, opti-flow and BiPAP patients, overdose patients, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients Utilizes endotool and CRRT for select patients RN to patient ratio of 1:1-3, with CNA support typically at 1:10 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week Weekend rotation required every other weekend No on-call or call-back requirements Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs Travel nurses are prioritized for floating assignments and must demonstrate flexibility across units within scope of practice EPIC EMR system used Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors Unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and life flow devices Telemetry monitoring via hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Critical care skills required including insulin, vasopressor, and sedation drip management Experience managing invasive lines (arterial and CVP) required Experience with chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes required EPIC EMR experience required At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients including ventilator management and invasive line care RN responsible for phlebotomy duties, with limited additional phlebotomy support available in the hospital 24/7 support available from charge nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist teams CNA support available for turning, feeding, ADLs, blood sugars, lab draws, and mobility assistance IV/VAT team available for support Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract Navy scrub color required Free designated parking available for staff Unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork across day and night shifts First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible Previous employees must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position These details are based on information provided by the facility and may include inaccuracies or be subject to updates.
