Structural Engineer I

Location: Knoxville, TN Position Overview Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer to work with other members of the civil & structural team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydropower generating clients. Responsibilities Design additions and modifications to power generation related structural systems. Perform structural calculations, developing design criteria and ensuring adequate design capacity using software packages such as STAAD.Pro, STAAD Foundation, RAM Connection, spMats, spColumn, LPILE, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, Mathcad, Excel, ENERCALC. Design structural steel components including pipe bridges, pipe and cable tray supports, equipment support structures, elevated platforms, steel buildings. Prepare drawing packages in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Plant 3D. Qualifications Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed schedules. Creative thinker capable of judging alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution. Available to work overtime when necessary to meet project schedules. Available to travel out of town for project meetings and site visits. Safety conscious and will strictly adhere to company and client safety standards. Required Education Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering. Preferred Education Master's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field. Experience 5 years of experience in structural engineering for power generation projects. Licenses & Certifications Professional Engineer (PE) – required.
