Material Planner

A growing building materials company is seeking a Materials Planner to support finished goods, packaging materials, inventory planning, and distribution activities at its Houston operation. This role works closely with production, logistics, procurement, sales, and suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and supporting efficient plant and warehouse operations. Why Consider This Opportunity Join a growing building materials company with an expanding U.S. footprint Work across production, inventory, logistics, procurement, and supply chain functions Opportunity to improve material flow, inventory planning, and operational efficiency What You’ll Do Forecast, order, and maintain inventory levels for packaging materials including bags, stretch wrap, slipsheets, and pallets Coordinate bagging and production schedules with sales forecasts, customer orders, and plant requirements Monitor finished goods inventory, warehouse capacity, product rotation, and FIFO practices Develop and maintain MRP schedules to support production and material availability Place purchase orders, monitor shipments, and expedite deliveries when necessary Work with suppliers to resolve shortages, delivery issues, discrepancies, and quality concerns Coordinate with logistics teams on truck loading, dispatch planning, and customer delivery requirements Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including inventory information, BOMs, and planning parameters Monitor inventory, supplier performance, material usage, waste, and other key planning metrics Support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and supply chain optimization initiatives What They’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience 2-5 years of experience in material planning, inventory management, or supply chain operations Experience in building materials, industrial products, consumer packaged goods, or another fast-moving operating environment Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP MM/PP or similar Intermediate to advanced Excel skills Strong analytical, forecasting, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred CPIM, CSCP, or other APICS/ASCM certification Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, or similar continuous improvement practices Medical, dental, and vision insurance options Company-paid life, short-term disability, and long-term disability insurance Matching 401(k) plan with a 4% company match Vacation, sick leave, and holiday benefits Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without restrictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
