About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 18 months of MedSurg/Tele experience required License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS Certification required Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) General medical/surgical skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains IV start skills Experience with blood products Wound care and dressing changes Description: This position involves providing care to patients in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting. The unit has a capacity of 34 beds with an average census of 32. Common diagnoses include DKA, Sepsis, Wounds, CHF, AKI, PNA, Diabetes, Anemia, Sickle Cell Crisis, Pancreatitis, and Spinal Fusions. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 during nights, with potential increases to 1:7-8 due to staffing needs. Support is provided by a CNA, charge nurse, phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, and case managers. Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, and patient monitoring systems. This role may require floating within the region and scope of practice as needed.
