Position Title Patient Access Associate (Emergency Room Registrar) Location & Hours Location: Penn Medicine Princeton Health Hospital - 1 Plainsboro Road Plainsboro, NJ Hours: Part Time - Morning hours from 7am Department: Emergency Department Responsibilities Register patients into the computer system. Collect, verify and enter required demographic and insurance information for accurate reimbursement. Collect and process co‑pays or time of service payments. Provide excellent customer service to set a positive tone for patient outcomes and care. Greeting patients with a positive and professional attitude and initiating the registration process. Properly enter required fields within the ADT system to ensure patient safety and create visits appropriately. Perform follow‑up on assigned third‑party accounts for all in‑house admissions and selected outpatients. Verify eligibility, obtain benefits, ensure pre‑certification and/or authorization/referral requirements are completed. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to fast‑paced, changing work environments. Document out‑of‑pocket responsibilities for services as related to insurance contracts or PCHS Fee Schedules; collect time‑of‑service and point‑of‑service payments per policy. Refer patients to a Financial Counselor for assistance when necessary. Cross‑train in Admissions, providing opportunities for professional growth. When assigned to bedside registration (ED and Surgical Areas), utilize the Workstation on Wheels (WOW). Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Strong customer service skills. Minimum six months experience checking in patients in a physician’s office or hospital setting. Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. Preferred Two years of medical experience, with previous hospital or physician office registration/insurance verification experience. EPIC system experience.
