Occupational Therapist - Acute Care

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift, 5x8 hours (07:00 AM - 03:00 PM). Will require rotating weekends, with 1 weekend every 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing services in an acute care environment, evaluating and treating patients with diverse diagnoses including multi-trauma, spinal cord injuries, strokes, and surgical recoveries. The therapist must be knowledgeable in various treatment modalities and eager to collaborate with the medical team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and monitor patient progress.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient care.
  • Adapt to floating between acute care, medical, ICU, and inpatient rehab units as needed.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Participate in clinical meetings and contribute to the interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient evaluations and therapy sessions using Epic.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Valid Washington State Occupational Therapist license required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
  • Inpatient rehab experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of assessment protocols for various diagnoses in the acute care setting.
  • Experience with functional splints, edema massage, kinesiotaping, and orthoplast required.
  • Must be self-driven, adaptable, and work effectively as part of a team.
