OnSite Energy is seeking an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated Outside Sales Representative / Energy Consultant to develop new residential and commercial solar and energy storage business in Montana.

This opportunity is structured as an independent contractor relationship, compensated exclusively through commissions on successful sales. It is ideally suited for an experienced sales professional who enjoys building relationships, generating their own leads, managing their own schedule, and earning income directly tied to sales performance.

As an Energy Consultant, you will identify prospective residential and commercial customers, develop relationships, assess their energy needs, and guide them through the process of evaluating and purchasing solar and energy storage solutions.

You will have access to OnSite Energy's established brand, technical expertise, project development resources, and installation capabilities while maintaining independence in how you organize and pursue your sales activities.

Scope of Services

• Lead Generation and Business Development: Independently identify and cultivate residential and commercial solar and energy storage opportunities through networking, referrals, professional relationships, direct outreach, and other self-directed prospecting activities.
• Customer Consultation: Meet with homeowners, business owners, and other prospective customers to evaluate their energy needs, financial objectives, and interest in solar and battery storage solutions.
• Site Assessments and Project Development: Gather relevant property, electrical, and energy consumption information, perform preliminary site assessments, and coordinate with OnSite Energy's technical team to develop appropriate system solutions.
• Proposal Development: Collaborate with OnSite Energy's estimating and design resources to prepare accurate, professional project proposals.
• Sales Presentations and Contracting: Communicate the financial, environmental, and practical benefits of solar and energy storage, address customer questions, negotiate within established company parameters, and facilitate contract execution.
• Customer Relationship Management: Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions, sales opportunities, and project information using OnSite Energy's designated CRM platform.
• Project Handoff: Coordinate with OnSite Energy's internal team to ensure a smooth transition from contract execution to project implementation.

Ideal Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in outside sales, business development, or consultative selling.
• Experience in solar, energy storage, electrical contracting, construction, or related industries is preferred but not required.
• Proven ability to independently generate leads, develop customer relationships, and close sales.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivation, and a high degree of personal accountability.
• Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and helping residential and commercial customers make informed energy decisions.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical and financial information effectively.
• Comfortable using CRM software and other digital sales tools.
• Ability to travel to customer locations within an agreed service territory.
• Experience selling to commercial customers, business owners, or organizational decision-makers is a plus.

Independent Contractor Arrangement

This is an independent contractor opportunity, not a traditional employee position.

• The Energy Consultant will operate as an independent business professional under a written independent contractor agreement.
• The consultant will have discretion over their work schedule, prospecting activities, and methods of developing new business, consistent with applicable contractual obligations and OnSite Energy's customer service and quality standards.
• The consultant will be primarily responsible for generating and developing their own sales opportunities.
• OnSite Energy will provide access to relevant product information, technical resources, proposal development support, and established sales processes as appropriate.
• The consultant will generally be responsible for their own business expenses, transportation, equipment, and applicable taxes, subject to the terms of the independent contractor agreement.
• This position does not include employee benefits such as health insurance, paid leave, or retirement plan contributions.

Compensation

100% commission-based compensation, with no base salary or guaranteed earnings.

• Commissions are earned on qualifying residential and commercial solar and energy storage contracts in accordance with the independent contractor agreement.
• Compensation is directly tied to successful sales performance, offering significant earning potential for motivated and effective sales professionals.
• Commission rates, eligibility, payment timing, and applicable adjustments will be established in the written independent contractor agreement.
