The Victor Bar is an intimate, Parisian-inspired cocktail bar in North Center. No kitchen, no food menu — cocktails are the whole program, and the server is how that program reaches the room. You're the link between the bar and the guest: reading tables, guiding people through the menu, and keeping service moving on busy nights.

You don't need to be a bartender, but you should be genuinely curious about cocktails and spirits. You'll learn the menu deeply, and we'll teach you the rest.

What you'll do

• Greet guests, present the menu, and guide them through cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine with confidence
• Take orders accurately and ring them into the POS without delay
• Deliver drinks to spec and presentation standards
• Watch your section: water, empty glassware, pre-bussing, table upkeep
• Communicate clearly with bartenders, barbacks, and managers to keep service flowing
• Keep tables, stations, and guest areas clean and stocked — glassware, napkins, garnish, ice
• Handle opening, running, and closing side work
• Check IDs and serve responsibly under federal, Illinois, and Chicago law — including refusing service when the law requires it
• Flag guest concerns or safety issues to a manager right away

What we're looking for

• Prior bar, lounge, or restaurant service experience preferred
• Working knowledge of cocktails and spirits a plus — genuine interest required
• Sharp, warm, organized, and quick on your feet in a loud, busy room
• Comfortable on a POS
• 21+ with BASSET certification, or able to obtain it before your first shift
• Able to stand for full shifts, carry trays and glass racks, and move safely through a crowded bar, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Available nights, weekends, and holidays
• Bilingual is a plus, not a requirement

Compensation
$12.96/hour plus tips. If base wage plus tips doesn't reach Chicago's full minimum wage in any workweek, we pay the difference in accordance with the Chicago Minimum Wage Ordinance.
