Salary: $3,532.50 - $5,206.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Final Filing Date: 5/28/2026 Application Methods: Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) By Mail Drop-off Job Overview This position helps operate a brand new commercial‑style kitchen 365 days a year, serving morning and evening hot meals to 80-100 residents. Staff share responsibilities to oversee, teach, train, encourage, and mentor Culinary Crew Corpsmembers. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and assist with preparing, cooking, and serving food to Corpsmembers. Implement a menu of nutritionally balanced meals, including vegetarian and ethnic dishes. Follow standard food safety practices, including Serve Safe principles and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Provide quality food service operations for Corpsmembers; supervise Corpsmembers in training to become Corpsmember Cook Specialists. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment and educate Cook Specialists and Corpsmembers in sanitation principles, proper storage of food preparation/handling. Assist in implementing a Cook Specialist training program with classroom materials, audio‑visual aids, tests, evaluations, and certificates. Respond to emergencies as needed. Shall Consider: COOK SPECIALIST I, $3,165.83 - $4,656.00 Work Location Brand new CCC Mendocino Center, 600 E. Hill Rd., Willits, CA 95490. Desk space and computer access are afforded within the Kitchen Office. The Cook Specialist may be called upon to make trips to local stores and food vendors, generally within the county but sometimes requiring planned trips out of the area.
