Senior Strategic IT Commodity Procurement Specialist

Job Overview:
Strategic Commodity Specialists apply their expertise and experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, data analytics, and supplier relationship management to optimize spending across commodities. In this role, you will manage and develop a non-inventory Global Supplier base. You will evaluate suppliers, products, and services, negotiate contracts and price agreements, and manage contracts to ensure maximum value. You will ensure that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality. This role requires the ability to track and report on assigned metrics. You will be responsible for managing spending on a global basis with a focus on indirect categories such as software, hardware, and IT professional services.

Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare plans for the purchase of IT hardware, software, and catalog purchase set-up.
- Review, compare, analyze, and approve products and services purchased.
- Manage and maintain accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintain and update supplier information and Scorecards for qualifications.
- Maintain good supplier and internal stakeholder relations.
- Execute professional, detailed sourcing events and team negotiations.
- Prepare budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
- Create sourcing strategies for the assigned categories to reduce risk and cost.
- Meet Supply Chain goals for savings, contract terms, and Supplier KPIs.
- Negotiate the best-in-class price, payment terms, quality levels, and delivery terms for purchased products and services in compliance with corporate objectives.
- Maintain a solid working knowledge of essential commodity trends, including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes as applicable.
- Conduct competitive bidding (RFX, e-Sourcing) and negotiation activities to reduce costs and ensure an open, transparent, and objective supplier evaluation and award process.
- Drive suppliers’ continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers.
- Administer moderate to large contracts with direct and third-party suppliers.
- Clear understanding of contract terminology, pricing, scope, and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, intellectual property, and export compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years as a commodity expert in a dynamic procurement environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of IT hardware, software, license, and service purchasing buyer experience.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing is required.
- Proven management of category strategies resulting in positive solutions.
- Experience in planning and maintaining detailed project schedules, coordinating with stakeholders, driving completion, and project updates.
- Ability to provide quantitative analysis to identify financial impacts of decisions and performance for category management. Perform business process analysis and develop models to improve cost.
- Experience managing contracts and ensuring supplier performance by applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret the application of contracts to business needs.
- Experience establishing preferred suppliers for assigned categories, implementing management programs for continuous improvement, and monitoring KPIs of the supply base.
- Knowledge of JD Edwards and the Source to Payment system is a plus.
