Driver License Examiner

Hiring Agency: Motor Vehicles - Agency 24. Location: Bellevue, NE. Hiring Rate: $19.29 per hour. Job Posting: JR2026-00026459. (Applications accepted until June 3, 2026) Job Summary: The DMV seeks a service-driven, customer-focused individual to administer driver license exams and perform related duties. Responsibilities Authorize issuance of licenses, permits, and ID cards. Conduct safe and comprehensive road tests for all license classes. Ride on road tests with new and inexperienced drivers. Verify identity, immigration status, and residential addresses. Conduct testing and evaluation for commercial motor vehicle drivers. Set up motorcycle testing courses and administer skill tests. Relief Examiner: travel to surrounding counties as needed. Provide on-the-job mentoring to new examiners. Requirements & Qualifications Experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or with motor vehicle laws. Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record. Successfully complete a state‑approved defensive driving course within the first month. Complete agency’s Driver License Examiner training (federal CDL, fraud detection, customer service). CDL recertification training every 3 years. Pass FBI and Nebraska State Patrol background check. Some positions may require overnight travel or bilingual ability; flexible schedule to maintain a 40‑hour week. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to lift, carry, and roll up to 50 pounds of equipment. Enter and exit large commercial vehicles for road tests. Operate computers, vision equipment, and basic office tools. Read, comprehend, and apply technical guidance. Work designated hours in a team environment at assigned locations.
