Respiratory Therapist Registered

Position Overview Registered Respiratory Therapist responsible for providing comprehensive ventilatory support, airway management, and critical care interventions for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders at University Medical Center. Responsibilities Conduct patient assessment and ventilator management including initial ventilatory settings, ventilator changes, and patient‑specific equipment selections. Perform arterial punctures, arterial line placement, and endo/nasotracheal suctioning. Assist with bronchoscopy, intubation, and code III response procedures. Administer aerosol/IPPB, CPT, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, aerochamber/inhaler therapy, and peak flow meter monitoring. Organize priorities and ensure safe operation of all equipment and supplies. Maintain accurate monitoring, documentation, and incident reporting to support quality improvement. Participate in planning and problem‑solving activities. Adhere to BSI policies and enforce infection‑control procedures using aseptic technique when required. Communicate treatment information clearly to patients and family members to promote understanding and participation. Maintain a safe environment by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions and using proper communication channels. Qualifications Licensed Respiratory Therapist – Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care. Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
