Assembly AssistantWe're currently seeking a motivated individual to fill our open Part Time and Full Time Assembly Assistant positions in New Paltz, NY.The Assistant Hand Assembly supports the final stages of the manufacturing process by preparing finished products for shipment. This entry-level role and a natural stepping stone toward advancement into machine-support roles, including Assistant Machine Operator. This hands-on role focuses on assembling partitions, inspecting print quality, counting and stacking products and preparing boxes to meet customer specifications.ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities:Inspect finished products for print quality, accuracy, and visible defects prior to shipment.Count, stack, and box finished products according to work instructions and customer requirements.Assemble partitions, inserts, and related components as required by specific orders.Dust and wire-brush boxes to ensure a clean, professional final product.Verify order quantities and report discrepancies or quality concerns to a supervisor.Stage completed orders for shipping or the next step in the production process.Accurately complete basic production or quality documentation as required.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.Perform other duties as assigned to support production and shipping needs.QualificationsQualifications:Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to measure to the 16th of an inch with a tape measureAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and equipment.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.Basic math skills, including counting and simple measurements.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Work Environment & Physical Demands:• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and corrugated materials.• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, repetitive motion, and lifting throughout the shift.• Overtime may be required to meet production and shipping deadlines.Viking BenefitsSchedule Monday to Friday (1st shift) 7am to 3:30pm or (2nd shift) 3:30pm to 12:00am$17 per hourMedicalDentalVisionCompany sponsored Health Savings Account (HSA)401k with matchPaid Vacation and Sick TimeLife InsuranceLong Term Disability InsurancePet InsuranceSemiannual profit sharingTraining Programs with the Council of IndustryGrowth from within the companyCareer Growth Opportunities:• This role is designed as an entry point into manufacturing operations.• Employees who demonstrate reliability, quality focus, and strong work habits may be eligible for cross-training and advancement into machine-support roles, including Assistant Machine Operator.• On-the-job training is provided to support skill development and career progression.Company ProfileViking Industries has specialized in the manufacturing of corrugated packaging and providing logistical solutions to its clients, for the past 53 years.
