American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a BMT/Oncology unit position requiring BMT or heme/onc experience and an active CO or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 51-bed Cellular Therapies/BMT-Oncology unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T
• Rotating day/night shifts (4x12 hours), various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1, with flexibility based on staffing and unit needs
• Float required between BMT/Onc and CTU units, and potentially to sister facilities within the metro region
• Uses Epic charting system
• Navy scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
• AHA BLS certification required
• Oncology Nursing certification (ONC) required
• Chemotherapy administration certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 2 years acute care BMT/Heme experience with chemotherapy administration required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Comfortable working in environments with flexible/flexing nurse-to-patient ratios
• Skilled in care and management of central lines, ports, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experienced in administration and monitoring of chemotherapy, including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral administration
• Knowledgeable in management of oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood dyscrasias
• Skilled in symptom management including nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to inpatient oncology and BMT patients, including those undergoing stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy
• Manage neutropenic precautions and chest tube care as needed
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage graft-versus-host disease symptoms
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where time off is not permitted
• No blocked scheduling requests allowed
• Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
• Local candidates accepted, with reduced pay rate for those residing within 75 miles of the facility
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Previous UCHealth employees may be ineligible for consideration based on facility policy
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
