Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered respiratory care in accordance with the requirements of the department and the scope of practice for the relevant state and specialty. The role includes performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitoring patients receiving invasive and non‑invasive mechanical ventilation, and responding to emergent situations. Responsibilities Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy. Administer respiratory care therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy. Assist with placement of artificial airways. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation. Monitor patient therapeutic response and notify provider, intervening as appropriate. Assist with transportation of ventilator‑dependent patients. Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required. Qualifications NBRC and State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Associate Degree in Respiratory Care. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
