We are seeking a Merchandise Intern who will embody the heart and soul of our mission while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. Responsibilities Proficient knowledge of all products/services available for sale to guests. Perform Merchandise Selling Skills and guest interactions to standard. Assist in training and development of new hires or hosts new to those locations. Operate cash register/POS system efficiently, following policy and procedures. Ensure inventory is stocked on selling shelves and fully stocked nightly at close and prior to opening. Assist in maintenance and daily operation of shop, ensuring location cleanliness and display preparation per Dollywood standards. Assist in warehouse logistics: ticketing, counting, communicating discrepancies, and deliveries. Assist in scheduling, meeting facilitation, file maintenance, presentations, paperwork, calendar management, mail distribution, office supplies ordering, message relaying, and volunteering. Accommodate changes in work assignments and locations. Communicate to Immediate Supervisor current needs of product ordering, equipment, supplies, or issues preventing host from meeting expectations. Adhere to merchandise safety guidelines; report safety issues immediately. Follow Merchandise Operational Policies and Procedures effectively. Keep up to date on company and divisional communications. Protect privacy and security of guests and coworkers, including PCI compliance. Create and maintain visual displays and presentations. Maintain accurate inventory at all times. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Must be enrolled in a continuing education/college program. Basic math skills. Understand basic calculator and cash register/POS system. Comprehend instructions and retain information. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Merchandise POS and inventory systems; experience with Pronto software is a plus. Friendliness when speaking to guests, vendors, and employees. Self‑motivated and disciplined. Ability to prioritize and complete assignments on time. Maintain confidentiality and judgment of privileged information. Productivity in a fast‑paced environment. Dependable attendance and flexible schedule, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Sensitivity to guest needs and empowerment to act within company guidelines. Effective communication, problem‑solving, conflict management, and interpersonal skills. Perform duties consistent with a safe environment. Flexibility to handle frequent changes in priorities. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects ahead of schedule. Lift up to 50 lbs with assistance. Communicate effectively using approved methods. Tolerate temperatures from 0 to 140 degrees. Work outdoors. Finger dexterity to handle money, small items, and operate cash register/POS system. Reading and writing skills to comprehend cash handling procedures and complete reconciliation paperwork. Analyze and remember information to operate cash register efficiently and resolve guests’ problems. Display salesmanship qualities and maintain good personal hygiene and appearance. Use color and depth perception to arrange displays and locate merchandise. Tolerate noise and stress for large customer volume. Cooperate with employees and accept frequent schedule changes and job assignments. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical and Cognitive Requirements Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, following safe lifting guidelines. Mobility: intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, up to 13 hours; travel on property with varying terrain, stairs, and uneven surfaces. Perform repetitive movements and tasks throughout shift. Work in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat. Strong cognitive skills: critical thinking, problem solving, processing and retaining information, detail orientation, and effective communication.
