Floyd's 99 Barbershop is looking for a Total Rewards Specialist to join our team and help support the programs that make Floyd's a great place to work. This role supports the day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of our benefits, compensation, payroll, retirement, and employee reward programs.

The Total Rewards Specialist independently manages day-to-day benefits administration and actively participates in the complete payroll cycle for a multi-state workforce. This position ensures accurate and compliant program administration, helps resolve employee and system-related issues, and partners closely with internal teams, benefit carriers, brokers, and other vendors to deliver a positive employee experience.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, resourceful, organized, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision. This person should be a strong communicator who can manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and take ownership of their work while providing exceptional support to our employees and leaders.

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
• Own day-to-day benefits administration, including new-hire enrollments, qualifying life events, eligibility changes, terminations, and employee inquiries.
• Actively participate in the end-to-end payroll process for a multi-state workforce.
• Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning, system configuration, testing, employee communications, audits, and vendor coordination.
• Review payroll preview reports, identify discrepancies, complete payroll audits, and coordinate corrections before payroll is finalized.
• Reconcile benefit enrollment, carrier billing, and payroll deduction data; research discrepancies and coordinate timely corrections.
• Serve as the primary liaison among employees, benefit carriers, brokers, retirement-plan providers, payroll providers, and other vendors.
• Assist with payroll processing and serve as a payroll backup, including reviewing employee changes, timekeeping records, earnings, deductions, and payroll audit reports.
• Support payroll and benefits year-end activities, audits, reporting, and regulatory filings.
• Administer retirement-plan processes, including eligibility, contributions, reconciliations, audits, and employee inquiries.
• Support payroll quarter-end and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation, employee data reviews, reconciliations, and required reporting.
• Maintain accurate employee information across HRIS, payroll, benefits, and vendor systems.
• Prepare and analyze benefits, payroll, compensation, and workforce reports.
• Monitor applicable federal, state, and local requirements and support compliance with benefits, payroll, and employment regulations.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, employee communications, guides, and training materials.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and prevent recurring errors.
• Respond to employee and manager questions clearly, professionally, and confidentially.
• Support additional HR programs and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Three or more years of experience in benefits, payroll, HR operations, or total rewards.
• Hands-on experience administering employee benefit programs and resolving eligibility, enrollment, and deduction issues.
• Experience supporting or leading an annual open enrollment.
• Experience reconciling benefit deductions, carrier invoices, or enrollment records.
• Hands-on payroll processing, payroll support, or payroll-audit experience.
• Experience working with an HRIS or payroll system such as ADP Workforce Now, Workday, UKG, or a comparable platform.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to research issues, identify root causes, and follow them through to resolution.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting a multi-state employee population.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP timekeeping systems.
• Experience administering a 401(k) or other retirement plan.
• Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FLSA, and applicable state requirements.
• Experience coordinating with benefit brokers, insurance carriers, retirement-plan providers, payroll providers, and other vendors.
• Experience supporting payroll and benefits audits and year-end activities.
