Part-Time HR Generalist

The Phillip Charles Group is seeking an experienced Part-Time HR Generalist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client, a well-established, privately owned manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional looking for a flexible schedule in a small, casual work environment.

Position Details:

• Pay: $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
• Type: Part-Time, Contract-to-Hire
• Location: On-site

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and general employee inquiries.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and offboarding, particularly for manufacturing and warehouse positions.
• Serve as a liaison between employees, union representatives, and management to address workplace concerns.
• Process weekly payroll for plant employees and semi-monthly payroll for office staff using ADP Workforce.
• Assist with benefits administration, including health insurance, 401(k), and employee enrollment.
• Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, and assist with workers' compensation matters.
• Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and personnel files.
• Support HR policies, employment compliance, and general administrative functions.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an HR Generalist or similar hands-on HR role.
• Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments strongly preferred.
• Previous union experience and familiarity with employee relations in a unionized workplace.
• Recruiting experience for hourly, entry-level, and production positions.
• Working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, FMLA, and workers' compensation.
• Experience with ADP Workforce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work independently and provide practical, employee-focused HR support.
