Rooftop Bartender

Gansevoort Meatpacking is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hospitality-driven Bartender to join our Rooftop team.

We are looking for someone with strong cocktail, spirits, wine, and beverage knowledge who enjoys creating memorable guest experiences and thrives in a fast-paced luxury hospitality environment. The ideal candidate is personable, polished, efficient, and able to engage with both hotel guests and local patrons while delivering consistently excellent service.

The schedule for this position is Friday through Sunday, with shifts from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM .

Primary Functions:

• To serve as a Gansevoort Hotel Group Brand Ambassador and maintain integrity of brand standards and goals.
• Establish and maintain standards of a 5-star service.
• Mixing beverages using an extensive range of ingredients including liquor, bitters, soda, water, sugar, and fruits.
• Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
• Take beverage orders from customers or wait staff and serve drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail.
• Assess customer preferences and make drink recommendations.
• Provide a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons.
• Collect money for drinks served and provide change as needed.
• Check identification to verify legal age requirements for all customers.
• Balance cash receipts.
• Keep a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories.
• Clean the bar, tables, chairs, and work area to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
• Place orders for liquor, beer, wine, and other supplies.
• Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for drinks.
• Plan bar menus.
• Create unique drinks.
• Prepare and serve appetizers, snacks, or other food items for customers at the bar.
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
• Limit customer problems by restricting alcohol intake and attempting to curtail inappropriate behavior.
• Relay key info to security - line is forming outside, someone drinking outside of an outside bottle, someone underage.
• Update job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.
• Fill in for absent staff as needed.
• Assist with special events as needed.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Responsible for proper cash tip distribution to support staff (runners, bussers etc.) and completing necessary paperwork.
• Complete necessary shift closing procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested by Management.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• 18 years old or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer Service Skills.
• Communication Skills.
• Training or Experience with Bartending.
• Knowledge of Drink Mixing and Garnishing.
• Positive Attitude and personable demeanor.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to function in a noisy, hectic and crowed environment.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Neat and clean appearance.
• Stamina: you will spend most of the time on your feet and will have to lift heavy objects.
• Must have full availability to work mornings/evenings/nights, weekends and holidays.
