Job Summary:

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Austin, Texas. This contract role involves working night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a focus on providing specialized pediatric intensive care. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of assignment.

• Certifications, Education, and Experience: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), previous PICU experience involving vents and drips, with 1-2 years of PICU experience preferred.


• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps and vents.


• EMR: Meditech


• Schedule: Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.

  • Staff: 13 total, typically 2-3 nurses per shift
  
  
  • Patient Ratios: 2 ICU patients per RN, other ratios include ICU/IMC 1:1, ICU/MS 1:1 with 2 patients
  
  
  • Procedures performed: HFNC, seizure monitoring, a variety of pediatric diagnoses
  
  


• Candidate Requirements:
  
  
  
  • Must have PALS, BLS, and previous PICU experience with vents and drips.
  
  
  • NICU experience and 1-2 years PICU experience are preferred.
  
  


• Dress code: Navy scrubs.


• Additional information: Small unit with strong teamwork, modern equipment, and positive work environment. No trauma services or ECMO.
