About SoCal Grantmakers SoCal Grantmakers (SCG) is the regional association for philanthropists and Grantmakers working to make a difference in Southern California communities and worldwide. SCG’s mission is to mobilize philanthropy to learn and take bold action by acting as a leadership hub for its members to connect, improve their grantmaking, and amplify their independent efforts through collaborative work. SCG is a philanthropy-supporting organization and nonprofit located in Downtown Los Angeles, California, that champions effective philanthropy across eight Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. Our community includes approximately 300 members representing the spectrum of philanthropy, including corporate giving programs, family foundations, public foundations, individual philanthropists, private, independent, operating and community foundations, philanthropic advisors, government Grantmakers, and grantmaking 501(c)3 organizations. SCG also is part of Philanthropy California, an initiative of Northern California Grantmakers, SoCal Grantmakers, and Catalyst of San Diego & Imperial Counties. The Opportunity The Associate, Professional Learning & Family Philanthropy, provides administrative support for the Programs & Conferences team. This position is an integral member of the team, playing a key role in supporting programs and conferences while contributing to the organization’s overall success. This role offers valuable exposure to the philanthropic sector and is ideal for someone looking to build their knowledge and experience in the field. This position must be available to staff in-person programs and conferences in the greater Los Angeles area. The Programs & Conferences Team The Programs & Conferences Team includes the Senior VP, Programs & Partnerships, VP, Professional Learning & Family Philanthropy, Director, Programs & Conferences, Advisor Arts & Family Philanthropy, Advisor, Corporate & Issue-based Programs, Senior Manager, Programs & Conferences, Manager, Professional Learning, Associate, Programs & Conferences, and Associate, Professional Learning & Family Philanthropy. The team develops and delivers a diverse portfolio of programs and conferences for SCG members, including issue-based initiatives, professional learning opportunities, Family Philanthropy and Corporate programming, and signature conferences. In addition, the team manages funder partnerships and serves as the primary liaison to several affinity groups. Required Qualifications: Minimum of at least two years of administrative, event planning, and/or nonprofit experience, including internships in philanthropy or nonprofit organizations Technologically savvy experience with the following applications or software: Salesforce Zoom meetings and Zoom webinars Outlook Asana Slack Strong written and verbal communicator with exceptional writing and proofreading skills and an ability to ask questions and liaise with other departments to perform tasks Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, or another relevant degree Role Level & Competency Alignment This role is aligned to SCG’s Individual Contributor competency framework. Activities include scheduling planning calls/meetings, managing registration and maintaining data on Salesforce, conducting website updates, tracking and confirming speakers, setting up Zoom meetings or acting as a liaison to book space for in-person programs, coordinating with catering vendors, etc. Assist with external correspondence with speakers, members, and partners Draft and assist with proofreading session descriptions, correspondence to members, resource emails, thank you letters, etc. Take notes and capture to dos in Asana after meetings and calls Represent SCG at meetings, sector-wide events, and on calls, as needed All other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr Inside Philanthropy, INC.
