The opportunity

EY's Forensics Insurance and Federal Claims Services practice specializes in helping clients achieve their financial recovery goals following disaster events such as hurricanes, fires, tornadoes, and pandemics. As a leading professional services firm, we offer grants management, compliance, and insurance claims services to some of the most complex and prestigious public and private sector entities.  This EY team consists of a diverse group of professionals, including accountants with disaster management experience, forensic accountants, engineers, former FEMA professionals, and other claims experts, all working collaboratively to provide our clients with unmatched expertise.

Your key responsibilities

In this role, you will work with engagement teams to provide government and public sector clients with a variety of services associated with the management and compliance of disaster recovery funding made available through complex grant and stimulus programs (FEMA, HUD CDBG-DR). This might include managing large projects for states and local governments, leading interactions with local governments to support project development, verifying numerous aspects of compliance including transaction testing and programmatic requirements, and managing and participating in teams who undertake monitoring of federally funded projects. This role will allow you to leverage your technical skills to creatively assess and resolve our clients’ needs from the front lines.

Travel and presence at client sites, along with in-office presence will be required.

To qualify for the role you must have

• A bachelor's degree in accounting, law, finance, business, emergency management or related field
• 2+ years of related compliance, audit, financial management, disaster recovery and/or emergency management experience, ideally with a government agency or professional services firm

• Achieved, or be working towards a professional designation, such as CPA, CEM, CFE
• Effective organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Good attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
• Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations

Ideally, you’ll also have

• A strong interest in the government and public sector
• Experience managing teams of 2 to 5 professionals
• Experience with business development activity

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $84,700 to $139,800.  The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $101,700 to $159,000.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
• Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
