Public Health Program Coordinator

$26 - $30 per hour

The Cass County Health Department is seeking a dedicated and organized Public Health Program Coordinator to support and advance community health initiatives. This position is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing grant‑funded public health programs, including but not limited to Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP), Tobacco Control, Hepatitis B prevention, and other assigned public health initiatives. Full‑Time Benefits Included Competitive salary based on experience IMRF pension retirement plan Health, dental, and vision insurance available Life insurance Thirteen paid holidays, as well as vacation, personal, and sick time plans Salary Range $26-$30 per hour based on experience Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage work plans for assigned grant programs (PHEP, Tobacco, Hepatitis B) in alignment with federal, state, and local guidelines. Plan, implement, and evaluate program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Serves as the lead coordinator for the Illinois Project for Local Assessment of Needs (IPLAN) process, including assessment planning, data collection and analysis, community engagement, coalition development, strategic planning, implementation tracking, and reporting requirements. Monitor program timelines, deliverables, and performance measures; ensure accurate documentation and timely submission of required reports. Collect, analyze, and utilize data to support program planning, evaluation, quality improvement, and grant reporting activities. Assist the Health Education Director with program budget development and monitoring in collaboration with fiscal staff; ensure expenditures comply with grant requirements and organizational policies. Lead or support grant applications, renewals, progress reports, and other required communications with funding agencies. Coordinate and deliver educational programs, trainings, and presentations for schools, community organizations, healthcare partners, and the general public. Provide or assist with CPR training for health department staff and community members as needed. Collaborate with internal departments, community partners, and stakeholders to support coordinated service delivery and achievement of program goals. Participate in community outreach, engagement, coalition activities, and public health emergency preparedness initiatives. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge through participation in trainings, conferences, meetings, and review of relevant public health literature and best practices. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, or a related field preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in public health, health‑related programs, grant management, program coordination, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percents and to read and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
