Senior Mobile Front-End Developer

Salary: $148,118.88 - 180,463.92 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field, plus four years of progressively responsible professional or journey-level experience.
• At least two of those years must include lead technical work in the development, implementation, and maintenance of electronic business systems or solutions, or in application development and support.
• We may accept additional directly related experience in place of up to two years of education on a year-for-year basis.
• A masters degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of the required lead technical experience.
• We may require a valid State of California drivers license.
• We are looking for strong expertise in front-end testing, code quality standards, automated testing, code reviews, and collaboration with QA.
• We value experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for application architecture and API integrations.
• We prefer hands-on experience building responsive web and mobile applications with React frameworks.
• We seek experience integrating RESTful and event-driven APIs and implementing secure, scalable front-end architectures using OAuth2, JWT, and CORS.
• We look for proven leadership, project management, planning, problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.

• We lead the architecture, design, and development of the San Jose 311 web and mobile applications.
• We establish and uphold front-end architecture, coding standards, and development best practices to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• We evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve performance, security, and development efficiency.
• We participate across the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement.
• We troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues through root cause analysis, performance tuning, and secure coding practices.
• We maintain React applications by managing upgrades, security patches, deployments, and adherence to quality standards.
• We improve application reliability and responsiveness through monitoring, secure API integrations, resilient error handling, and comprehensive testing.
• We collaborate with architects to align with enterprise standards and assess AI-enabled capabilities and other emerging technologies.
• We define and enforce unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies to ensure dependable application delivery.
• We set code quality expectations through code reviews, test coverage, and partnership with QA to identify and fix defects.
• We produce and maintain technical documentation covering architecture, API integrations, and development standards.
• We build and sustain strategic relationships with vendors and City departments to support dependable digital services and technology initiatives.
• We work closely with business and technical partners to strengthen service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
• We foster cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and successful technology outcomes.
