Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM4:30 PM CST
Hours: 37.5 hours per week / 7.5 hours per day
Residency Requirement: Must be a current Tennessee resident
Onsite Requirement: In-person onboarding in Nashville plus periodic onsite meetings
Travel: Periodic travel to rural regions may be required
Nashville Travel Reimbursement: Travel to the Nashville office is not reimbursable
Pay Rate: $35/hour

Required Skills Qualifications

• Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field .

• Strong knowledge of epidemiological and statistical-analysis methods.

• Experience analyzing and interpreting complex health or public-health datasets.

• Experience managing databases and working with large datasets.

• Experience integrating, linking, validating, or combining data from multiple sources.

• Experience with data collection, validation, quality assurance, and reporting.

• Ability to identify trends, disparities, patterns, and priority populations from health data.

• Experience producing reports, data summaries, presentations, dashboards, or visualizations.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook .

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Technical-writing and presentation experience.

• Ability to communicate complex epidemiological and statistical findings to nontechnical audiences.

Job Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret maternal, fetal, infant, and related public health data to support program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

• Conduct epidemiological analyses using multiple data sources.

• Analyze vital statistics and other relevant health datasets.

• Support analysis using Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR) methodologies where applicable.

• Analyze hospital-discharge data and other population-health datasets.

• Develop and maintain databases supporting rural maternal and infant health activities.

• Develop and maintain dashboards and data-tracking systems.

• Integrate and link multiple data sources as needed.

• Perform data collection, validation, and quality-assurance activities.

• Monitor program performance measures and deliverables.

• Support evaluation activities for funded programs and community-based initiatives.

• Assist with monitoring outcomes and identifying opportunities for program improvement.

• Identify trends and disparities related to fetal and infant mortality.

• Identify priority populations and geographic areas where additional interventions may be needed.

• Create reports, presentations, data summaries, dashboards, and visualizations.

• Develop GIS products or other geographic data displays where applicable.

• Translate complex epidemiological findings into understandable information for nontechnical audiences.

• Provide data and technical assistance to community partners and funded organizations.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to support a statewide rural health initiative focused on improving maternal, fetal, and infant health outcomes.

This position will use epidemiological analysis, public-health data, program evaluation, reporting, visualization, and technical assistance to help identify disparities and priority areas affecting fetal and infant mortality in rural communities.

The Epidemiologist will work with large health datasets and collaborate with program leadership, funded partners, community organizations, and multidisciplinary teams to transform complex data into actionable information that can guide public-health interventions.

This role is especially well suited for an epidemiologist with experience in maternal and child health, SAS, vital statistics, PPOR, Tableau, Power BI, GIS, REDCap, program evaluation, or rural health.
