Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Varies, every 3rd weekend

Payrate: $15.93/hr on w2

Job Summary

The Transfer Specialist is responsible for coordinating patient transfers and physician consultations within the health system. This role supports efficient patient placement, bed utilization, and communication between referring providers and on-call physicians while ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to transfer protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate incoming patient transfers and physician consultations.
• Facilitate communication between referring providers, nurses, and on-call physicians.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in electronic databases.
• Support bed management and patient placement activities.
• Follow established transfer center protocols and procedures.
• Ensure timely and professional handling of calls through a 24/7 transfer center environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
• Unit Secretary/Unit Clerk experience required.
• Database management and data entry experience required.
• Epic experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Preferred Experience

• Transfer Center, Patient Access, Bed Management, Unit Clerk, or Healthcare Coordination experience.
• Familiarity with hospital workflows and electronic health record systems.
