Senior Sustainability Engineer
Needham, MA * On-site

As we grow, we're adding a Senior Sustainability Engineer to our global team.

The role

SharkNinja is working to reduce its environmental impact, and we're looking for a creative problem solver to advance the development of low-carbon products. You have an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals, are equally comfortable hacking together a prototype in the lab or analyzing test results, and are passionate about solving the engineering challenges behind sustainable product innovation.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer with a deep understanding of energy efficiency and sustainable materials, natural curiosity about how to apply them in new ways, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and Product Development to bring these products to market.

What you'll do

• Support development of sustainable consumer products - identify lower-impact opportunities and use hands-on design, testing, and problem-solving to prove out your solutions
• Investigate commercially available and next-generation technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint across key products
• Work daily with Engineering and Product Development to rapidly build understanding of systems, environmental performance levers, and tradeoffs
• Pull in teammates from other disciplines to brainstorm, solve problems, build proof-of-concept prototypes, and test them thoroughly
• Guide and work closely with co-ops and interns
• See your team's work come to life on store shelves, online, and in infomercials - in products with a reduced carbon footprint

What you bring

• BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years in design and development
• A track record of bringing energy-efficient, environmentally responsible technologies into products on the market
• Strong analytical skills, a methodical mindset, sharp attention to detail, and a relentless drive to find potential problems and own their resolution
• Clear communication - explaining working principles, translating data into design implications, and making recommendations to technical and non-technical colleagues alike
• Awareness of global eco-legislation for consumer products and how to future-proof designs against it
• Lab experience running controlled experiments on things you designed and built, using a range of test equipment and instrumentation
• CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
• Organization, plus Excel, Python, or MATLAB (or similar) to turn test data into learnings
• Genuine enjoyment of building meaningful professional relationships with colleagues
• Because the work is hands-on and team-based, this role is in person at our Needham, MA office

Nice to have

• Applied R&D experience at a consumer products or consulting company
• Experience with analog/digital electronics, related test equipment, and small-appliance components - sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs
• Understanding of applied fluid mechanics and heat transfer
• Experience designing and executing experimental test plans to guide design decisions
• Comfort multitasking and shifting priorities quickly without losing sight of long-term goals
• Experience working with external experts or consultancies
