Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant – GI Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina supports GI surgical providers in an academic health setting. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining histories and vital signs, assisting with GI and surgical procedures, preparing exam and treatment rooms, and ensuring accurate EMR documentation. The CMA coordinates scheduling, patient instructions, and follow-up care while adhering to infection control and safety standards. This role collaborates with surgeons, nurses, and learners to deliver compassionate, efficient care and supports MUSC’s mission in education, research, and clinical excellence.
