Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Austin, Texas.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Aug 3, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift contract requiring NIH Stroke Certification and a TX or compact RN license.Details\n \n Neuro medical/surgical telemetry unit (5C) within a hospital setting\n 30-bed unit with approximately 60 total staff members\n Patient ratio of 1:5\n Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts\n 4 weekend shifts required per schedule\n No call requirements\n Uses Meditech EMR\n Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital signs monitors, COWs, Hoyer lifts, PCA pumps, CareView Virtual Sitter, Telepsych, and Teleneuro\n Requirements\n \n Active TX or compact RN license required\n Current BLS certification required\n NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS) required\n ACLS certification preferred\n Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry required\n Experience with stroke care (NIH scale), EEGs, gastric decompression, and wound care\n US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)\n One professional reference required\n No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care on a neuro medical/surgical telemetry unit including stroke, EEG, gastric decompression, and wound care patients\n Team includes CNC, RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and unit coordinators on each shift\n Team-oriented and self-motivated candidates preferred\n Navy scrub color required; hoop nose piercings not permitted\n Multiple ICARE award-winning unit with recognition based on patient feedback\n Unit policy packet provided on start date\n Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-734120.
