Location 3400 South Point Drive,Blacksburg, VA, 24060,United States Base Pay $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 / Year Employee Type Full Time Description The Resident Care Manager is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing the health and wellness of residents on our assisted living unit , supervising clinical staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care to residents on our assisted living unit . This position serves as a liaison between residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers, and plays a critical role in coordinating admissions, managing clinical operations, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The Resident Care Manager may be a licensed nurse or registered medication aide qualified to act as a main support in the absence of the H ealth and Wellness Director ’s absence . Administrative support for clinical leadership, and on-call or rotating support as a main clinical POC or communication liaison during staffing constraints, holidays or other coverage support needed is required . Requirements QUALIFICATIONS - Licensed RN or LPN (required or preferred based on facility policy). CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 60 days of employment). Documented TB screening and acceptable criminal background check, as per state requirements. Strong leadership, organizational skills , and time management skills. Effective verbal and written communication abilities. Compassionate, professional demeanor with a commitment to resident-centered care. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departm ents. Summary RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to) : RESIDENT CARE & CLINICAL OVERSIGHT Plan, implement, and oversee resident admissions, assessments, and care plans. Monitor residents’ physical and mental health, report changes to physicians and update care plans accordingly. Assist with resident care, meals, and transitions (move-ins/move-outs) as needed. Perform medication passes and ensures proper medication storage, documentation, and disposal. Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including physician orders, service plans, and mon thly charting. Complete and review incident reports and implement corrective actions. Ensure residents at risk of wandering are secure and monitored appropriately. Coordinate care with home health and hospice agencies in accordance with community policies. STAFF LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION Supervise and support clinical staff. Manage caregiver scheduling and resident assignments within departmental guidelines. Train new team members and coordinate ongoing in-service education. Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, praise, or disciplinary action as needed. Read and respond to communication notes between shifts to ensure continuity of care. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and compassionate workplace culture. COMPLIANCE & QUALITY ASSURANCE Develop and maintain a Quality Assurance Program for care staff. Ensure compliance with state regulations. Complete all required training. Assist the Quality Assurance Committee in identifying and correcting deficiencies. Conduct monthly checks of firs t aid kits and ensure emergency procedures are followed. Respond to call lights, door alarms, and other alerts as needed. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and uphold resident rights. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE ABILITIES: Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, lift, grasp, push, and pull at a high volume and frequency for long periods of time. Can tolerate bright lights, loud noises, odors, changes in temperature settings -to include cold or hot climates, exposure to infectious/communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and other disease related environments. Efficiently and effectively manage unpredictable schedules, distractions, changes of pace or priorities, on a regular basis. Fine hand coordination and ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff. Ability to remain calm under stress and follow training protocols. Capable of performing heavy and or unstable lifting of 50lbs or greater when necessary. Must be accurate , dependable, and thorough in all assigned tasks. Honor resident rights and follow all established protocols for care, safety, and service delivery. Maintain required education, certifications , and credentials. Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives. Promptly report any incidents or compliance concerns to the appropriate supervisor .
