Job Description

This role is a first-shift Machine Builder position responsible for assembling complex testing and simulation machinery from machined and purchased components. You will work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional Saturday hours from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The position is based in Grand Rapids and Plymouth, with multiple openings available. You will contribute to the full build process of advanced systems such as chassis dynamometers, roll brake testers, centering systems, and non-contact alignment machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of machined and purchased components to build complete machines.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to assemble equipment accurately.
• Build components required for the proper functioning of test and simulation machines.
• Wire junction boxes and perform electrical wiring tasks as part of machine assembly.
• Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during mechanical and electrical assembly.
• Assist in the build of systems such as MIM chassis dynos, roll brake testers, centering systems, and non-contact alignment machines.
• Conduct mechanical assembly work including fitting, fastening, and aligning components.
• Perform electrical assembly work including routing cables, connecting components, and verifying connections.
• Collaborate with other team members across fabrication, CNC, machine build, and paint areas to ensure smooth cradle-to-grave production.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the build process.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of machine build experience.
• Ability to build components required for the functions of complex machines.
• Basic understanding of blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret prints for mechanical and electrical assembly.
• Proficiency in using basic hand tools for mechanical and electrical work.
• Ability to wire junction boxes and perform electrical wiring tasks.
• Experience with mechanical assembly and machine building.
• Experience with electrical assembly in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding and MIG welding.
• Familiarity with machine build processes in a custom manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with hand tools and power tools for both mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Experience assembling or working with testing equipment such as dynos, brake testers, centering systems, or alignment machines.
• Ability to work first shift hours Monday through Friday, with additional Saturday hours as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a custom machine-building facility in Grand Rapids that produces equipment from cradle to grave, starting in the fabrication shop, moving through the CNC department, and continuing to machine build and paint. The work environment is clean and well-organized, with a two-shift operation. You will work on first shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with additional Saturday hours from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The facility focuses on building advanced testing and simulation machinery, and you will regularly use hand tools, welding equipment, and electrical assembly tools in a professional shop setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Grand Rapids,MI.
