Job Title: ICU Travel Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: - 36 months RN experience, including at least one year in an ICU - One previous successful travel nursing assignment in a facility using Meditech - Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients and comfort managing patients on a ventilator - Proficient in reading telemetry strips Description: Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. Expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. 48-hour shifts are an option. Unit has 28 mixed ICU beds with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3/4 for inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions. Unit staffing consists of RNs. Type of equipment includes i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels. Documentation system utilized is Meditech. Travelers are the first to float as needed. Any traveler could be sent to the emergency department or PCU for patient support. Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff at the facility. Advanced skills are required, including CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy. Nurses administer breathing treatments outside of the ICU, such as inhalers and nebulizers. Procedures performed include post-operative CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, bolts, and Arctic Sun in induced hypothermia is preferred. BSN and advanced certifications are preferred. TNCC certification is also preferred. Dress code requires navy uniform. Willing to train travelers interested in becoming skilled neuro ICU or cardiovascular ICU nurses.
