Social Studies Teacher – High School June 23, 2026 Job Summary: Under the direction of the principal, the teacher will work with high school students to achieve excellence in Social Studies, including Advanced Placement classes. Qualifications: Required: Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Social Studies (RX or CX) Able to assess and document student progress Professional in personal conduct and actions Excellent communication skills Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements Desired Characteristics: Experience in working with high school students Experience in teaching AP Economics preferred Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom Experience collaborating in writing common exams Experience working within a Professional Learning Community Knowledge of Google Workspace applications Successful teaching/coaching of students preferred Duties: Provide instruction to high school students Maintain an orderly classroom environment Monitor and document student progress through Skyward student information system Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies Plan and organize; exhibit excellent work habits Attend conferences and participate in professional development Perform other duties as assigned by administration STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION The Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, including sexual orientation or transgender identity, disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category, in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
