Behavioral Health Clinician LAC LSW

Position Summary The Behavioral Health Clinician I will provide treatment services for individuals requiring ASAM Level I (outpatient) or ASAM Level 2.1 (Intensive Outpatient Program). This may include individual, group and/or family sessions as well as coordination of need for case management and psychiatric services as indicated on the treatment plan. Must be a LSW or LAC Must possess or be willing to complete LCADC within 2 years Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals with a substance use disorder, preferably in a setting that treats co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Experience utilizing evidence-based practices. Possess a NJ LCADC license. Responsibilities Assessing the counseling needs of the clients. Assessing clients using the ASI or other standardized clinical interview tool, and diagnosing clients for substance use disorder using the DSM-5. Determining the appropriate level of care according to ASAM Criteria. Obtaining previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode. Unless clinically contraindicated, collaborating with the client to develop a written treatment plan that includes goals and measurable objectives, and is client centered, recovery oriented. The director of substance abuse counseling shall develop, monitor and provide the client and treatment team a written schedule to update each client treatment plan(s) in order to ensure clients' needs are met. Providing the substance abuse counseling services specified in the client treatment plan. Reviewing clients throughout the treatment episode according to the ASAM Criteria, to determine the need for continued services, transfer, or discharge/transfer. Reviewing and, where necessary, revising the client treatment plan to address ongoing problems. Developing a client discharge/transfer plan to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care. Contact, case consultation if necessary, and coordination with referral sources, (for example, mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, DCPP). Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients. Providing active case consultation. Documenting all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals, and follow-up in the client's clinical record, and providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records. Major Responsibilities/Performance Objectives Complete Biopsychosocial Assessment within the time frame established for the program and formulate treatment plan. Utilize ASAM-PPC2 and DSMV to determine diagnosis and level of care. Utilize a holistic approach to complete the biopsychosocial assessment that addresses all life domains in clear and understandable language. Include client and family in the treatment planning process. Complete Risk Assessment at intake, notify treatment team if risk level changes, and monitor High Risk clients weekly. Complete treatment plan for ASAM Level 1 (Outpatient) and Level 2.1 (IOP) utilizing evidence-based treatment approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Stages of Change and Relapse Prevention in work with clients. Utilize a holistic approach towards treatment planning and include medication-assisted treatment of both mental health and substance abuse disorders in planning. Coordinate treatment with client's family and referral sources. Provide clinician progress reports, updates, and recommendations as needed for referral sources within a timely manner. Provide case management for clients including linkages to community resources to address all life domains. Timely and thorough completion of all training required by the agency, applicable state regulations and accrediting bodies. Maintain CEUs required for professional licensing. Maintain competency to provide treatment through ongoing clinical supervision and continuing education and successfully completion of goals in yearly staff evaluation. Complete clinical documentation in a timely and effective manner. Comply with regulatory, Agency and funding guidelines regarding documentation. Keep up to date on the use of the Agency's electronic health record. Follow Agency and regulatory policies regarding confidentiality and security of client information. Abide by Agency, State and Federal as well as professional licensing standards pertaining to client rights, ethical treatment, conflict of interest, HIPAA, etc. Identify High Risk clients and work with team to provide safe and effective treatment outcomes. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other staff and supervisors as well as with clients, referral sources and outside agencies with a "client centered" and "recovery oriented" approach. Successfully complete orientation period. Complete and maintain necessary medical documentation for Agency file. Report incidents, client complaints, serious concerns regarding risk levels, etc. to supervisor. Utilize Agency policy and procedures to address these issues. Participate in performance improvement and client outcome activities. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment is required. Employees must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate information pertaining to this position. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
