Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Part-Time Fitness Instructor to lead group fitness classes and individual exercise sessions while promoting a culture of injury prevention and safe movement. The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, ensuring proper exercise technique, identifying and correcting unsafe movement patterns, and creating a supportive environment that reduces the risk of injury for participants.
This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about health, wellness, and teaching safe exercise practices that help participants improve fitness, mobility, strength, and overall well-being.

Job Specifications:

• Starting Wage: $22.00/hr. - $28.60/hr.
• Employment Type: Year Round 
• Shift Type: Part Time hours available

Job Responsibilities:

Safe Exercise Instruction:

• Lead group fitness classes and/or individual training sessions using proper exercise principles.
• Demonstrate and reinforce correct form, posture, and body mechanics.
  
• Monitor participants continuously and provide modifications based on fitness level, physical limitations, and medical restrictions.
  
• Stop or modify activities when unsafe conditions or injury risks are identified.
  
• Ensure exercises align with established safety guidelines and industry best practices.
  

Injury Prevention & Risk Management:

• Educate participants on proper warm-up, cool-down, stretching, and recovery techniques.
  
• Identify unsafe movement patterns and coach participants on corrective techniques.
  
• Encourage gradual progression of exercise intensity to prevent overexertion and injury.
  
• Promote ergonomic movement and body awareness that can reduce workplace and daily activity injuries.
• Report accidents, incidents, near misses, or safety concerns promptly.

Participant Engagement:

• Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for participants of all fitness levels.
  
• Encourage consistent participation while prioritizing safety over performance.
  
• Communicate clearly and professionally regarding exercise instructions and safety expectations.
  
• Foster a culture of accountability for personal health and injury prevention.

Facility & Equipment Safety:

• Conduct pre-class inspections of fitness areas and equipment.
  
• Ensure equipment is used correctly and safely.
  
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free exercise spaces.
  
• Remove damaged equipment from service and report maintenance needs.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  
• Current nationally recognized Fitness Instructor, Group Fitness, or Personal Training certification.
  
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  
• Knowledge of exercise science, biomechanics, and injury prevention principles.
  
• Ability to demonstrate and teach proper exercise techniques.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills Preferred:

• Two or more years of fitness instruction experience.
  
• Experience teaching workplace wellness, functional fitness, mobility, stretching, or injury prevention programs.
  
• Experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and demonstrate exercises for extended periods.
  
• Ability to lift and move fitness equipment up to 50 pounds.
  
• Ability to observe participants and quickly respond to safety concerns or emergencies.

Work Schedule:

Part-time position:

The expected pay range is $22.00/hr. - $28.60/hr.. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
