Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Area Safety Representative to join our growing team. This position is based in Baltimore, MD and will be supporting and assisting projects in the Baltimore - Washington, Northern Virginia, and Pennsylvania area.

The Area Safety Representative is responsible for supporting a strong, proactive safety culture across assigned construction operations. This position works closely with field employees and project teams to identify and control workplace hazards, provide safety education, and promote compliance with applicable regulations and company standards. Reporting to the Corporate Safety Director, the Area Safety Representative will provide hands-on safety leadership at multiple jobsites and assist in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities for Area Safety Representative :

• Conduct safety orientations for newly hired employees and ensure required participation in the company/site drug testing program.
• Plan and deliver jobsite safety training based on project needs, including fall protection, confined space, PPE, First Aid/CPR/AED, signal person, Hazard Communication, and other applicable topics.
• Create, review, update, and implement project-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with OSHA requirements, Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as company safety policies.
• Participate in and lead workplace incident investigations, prepare required documentation, identify contributing factors, and help develop corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Perform routine jobsite inspections to identify unsafe conditions, including inspections of power tools, electrical cords, equipment, work areas, and other potential hazards.
• Conduct PPE assessments and inspections, maintain necessary supplies, coordinate replacements and ordering, and provide employees with appropriate PPE training.
• Work directly with project personnel to address safety concerns and implement practical corrective measures.
• Support management and field crews in maintaining consistent safety standards across assigned projects and locations.

Required Skills & Knowledge for Area Safety Representative :

The successful candidate will be highly organized, safety-minded, and comfortable working directly with construction personnel. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be detail-oriented and capable of independently prioritizing tasks and taking initiative.
• Be comfortable traveling between construction projects, including jobsites located in different states.

Education & Experience for Area Safety Representative :

• Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience, preferably within civil infrastructure, heavy highway, or similar construction environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline preferred/required.
• Completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety course or equivalent training.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with field crews, supervisors, and project management.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to construction projects in multiple states.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related safety/documentation software.

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around chemicals, which require a government permit, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
