Compensation Range: $40.80 - $55.08

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted. Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit. This position is independently responsible for preparing for all IR procedures and handling patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the IR department with appropriate post IR instructions. Responsible for performing the duty as primary preceptor for new employees and students and is considered a subject matter expert in downtime procedures. Acts as super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced to the department. Ensures proficiency in and rotating through all areas of IR (Neuro, CT, IR) independently. Responsible for troubleshooting day to day operations, equipment malfunction, knowledgeable about inventory/products and their uses. May be designated as a Lead to support operations on various shifts.

Essential Functions

• Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed. Arranges equipment, trays, supplies, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image.
• Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
• Observes each patient's status and interprets appropriate information needed to meet age-specific needs.
• Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats.
• Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
• Completes and bills for studies accurately.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as an IR specialist in a clinical or hospital environment required
• 1 year dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Licenses And Certifications

• Licensed Radiologic Technologist upon hire required and
• ARRT Radiography Certification with CE credits upon hire required
