LATENT PRINT EXAMINER, SENIOR (CLASS CODE 5267)

Overview This is a full performance professional and technical position in the field of forensic science using appropriate protocols to analyze friction ridge evidence. The senior latent print examiner performs forensic examinations in the area of pattern and impression evidence, including analysis of latent prints on physical evidence and the comparison of friction ridge skin impressions. The role requires completing all work in accordance with ISO17025 accreditation standards, writing reports of findings, entering prints into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) database, monitoring the section’s casework, and providing courtroom testimony as needed. Responsibilities

• Perform forensic examination of pattern and impression evidence, including latent print analysis on physical evidence and friction ridge skin impressions.
• Complete work in accordance with ISO17025 accreditation standards.
• Write reports of findings and enter prints into the AFIS database.
• Monitor the section’s casework and provide courtroom testimony as required.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Forensics, Criminal Justice, Evidence Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field AND at least 2 years of experience performing latent print examinations. Associate’s degree in Forensics, Criminal Justice, Evidence Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field AND at least 3 years of experience performing latent print examinations. High School Diploma or GED AND at least 4 years of experience performing latent print examinations. Certification as a Latent Print Examiner through the International Association of Identification (IAI).
