Medical Billing Specialist – Insurance & A/R

Harrisburg Area, PA | Full-Time | Onsite | $18–$22/hour

Ready for your next step in medical billing ? We are hiring 2 Medical Billing Specialists to join a growing healthcare billing team in the Harrisburg area .

This is a great opportunity for someone with a medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle background who enjoys solving billing issues, working with insurance claims, and being part of a small, supportive team.

What You’ll Do

• Process and submit medical insurance claims
• Verify patient insurance, including primary and secondary coverage
• Follow up on unpaid, rejected, or denied insurance claims
• Work Accounts Receivable (A/R) and aging accounts
• Post insurance and patient payments and adjustments
• Assist with claim corrections, resubmissions, and appeals
• Generate secondary claims and patient statements
• Review billing information for accuracy
• Work with CPT/procedure and diagnosis codes
• Research insurance and patient account discrepancies
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient information
• Learn and work within multiple medical billing and internal systems
• Support the billing team and assist with additional projects when needed

The core duties also match the client's existing Billing Associate description, including claims generation, payment posting, secondary insurance, patient statements, insurance follow-up, appeals, and aging accounts.

What You Need

• Previous medical billing, insurance billing, or healthcare revenue cycle experience
• Understanding of the medical insurance and claims process
• Experience with insurance verification
• Understanding of primary vs. secondary insurance
• Familiarity with CPT/procedure codes and diagnosis codes
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle confidential patient information
• Dependable, team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work 100% onsite in the Harrisburg area

Preferred – Not Required

• Medical Accounts Receivable (A/R) experience
• Claims follow-up, denials, or appeals experience
• Payment posting experience
• Patient billing/collections experience
• Experience working aging reports
• Practice Suite or Practice Admin experience
• Experience with EHR/EMR or other medical billing software
• Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

No medical coding certification is required. Candidates should understand the difference between procedure/CPT and diagnosis codes, but this is a medical billing position, not a medical coding position .

Pay & Benefits

• $18–$22/hour , based on experience
• Full-time, Monday–Friday
